Highland Park distillery based in Kirkwall, Orkney is the most northerly whisky distillery in Scotland. Highland Park is part of the Edrington Group which makes some of the world’s best-loved whiskies, including The Famous Grouse, Cutty Sark and The Macallan.
Waracle had the exact expertise we were looking for. They were able to explain things in a very digestible way. With a fiercely loyal and growing customer base Highland Park sought to engage with their customers more regularly and provide information and features that were useful and added to their loyalty. They wanted to compliment their web presence with a mobile offering.
The idea was to create a mobile app focusing on their brand, product range, tasting notes and being part of the Highland Park ‘Inner Circle’ – The Whisky School. Given the popularity of Highland Park the app would need to cross geographies and technologies so a suite of mobile applications for iOS and Android would be key to the reach of the app.
Highland Park sought an experienced mobile development partner to design, create, launch, market and optimise their app along with a partner who could easily explain the nuances and need-to-knows of the mobile development process.
Waracle was chosen based on their mobile expertise across multiple platforms. An Ideation Workshop was created to thrash out the requirements, understand the Highland Park use cases, mockup wireframes and agree the development phases and deliveries. Waracle worked with Highland Park’s marketing team to define a series of success measures and KPI’s.
The project kicked off with a thorough understanding of Highland Park’s commercial goals and every iteration of the design and development build was coordinated to achieve these key measures of success to deploy a robust and highly engaging mobile app via iOS and Android.
The iOS and Android apps for Highland Park collectively have been downloaded tens of thousands of times and enabled the brand to engage new and existing customers in a deeper and more frequent way. The Highland Park mobile apps have enabled the brand to put the customer at the centre of the entire experience, helping them to better understand their customers requirements, tastes and habits.
